The difference between LEDs 3528 and 5050.

Among the most popular LED modifications are 3528 and 5050. What are they?

What are 3528 LEDs?

The name of these electronic components reflects their size: 3.5 by 2.8 mm. In the structure of 1 LED of the type under consideration, there are 1,2 or 3 semiconductor crystals. As a result, with appropriate electronic components, it is possible to provide lighting for rooms using 3 colors. At the same time, monochrome 3528 LEDs are also widespread - they are capable of glowing in white, blue, red, green, yellow.

The level of illumination provided by the LED depends on the specific color of the electronic component. So, white devices have the highest rate. Their illumination can reach 5.5 lumens. The illumination of blue LEDs is much more modest - it usually does not exceed 0.85 lumens.

3528 LEDs are most often used as an element of the design of lighting strips, various household appliances.

The main characteristics of the considered electronic components are as follows:

  • luminous flux - within 5.5 lumens;
  • power - about 0.1 W;
  • operating temperature - from minus 40 to 85 degrees;
  • rated current - 25 mA;
  • voltage - about 3.2 V;
  • the glow angle is about 120 degrees.

What are the 5050 LEDs?

The name of the LEDs under consideration, as in the case of electronic components of type 3528, reflects their size - 5 by 5 mm. First of all, it should be noted that the structure of the 5050 LED is actually represented by three 3528 type electronic components mounted in one housing. Therefore, in terms of their main technological properties, they will be quite similar to 3528 LEDs. But there are significant differences between the considered electronic components in terms of characteristics:

  • the luminous flux of 5050 LEDs can reach 18 lumens;
  • the power of these electronic components is in the order of 0.21 W;
  • LED rated current 5050 - 60 mA;
  • voltage - about 3.3 V;
  • the angle of illumination is about 125 degrees.

The specific indicator of the LED performance (by the way, as in the case of the 3528 electronic component) depends on the manufacturer, on the level of its infrastructure for the production of LEDs...

Comparison

The main feature of LEDs 3528 and 5050 is that the former are included in the structure of the latter, forming, in fact, a new device. In this regard, there is more than one difference between 3528 and 5050 LEDs - above, considering their characteristics, we were convinced of this fact. But from a technological point of view, both electronic components work on similar principles.

After examining the difference between LEDs 3528 and 5050, let us fix the conclusions in the table.
